Ralphs Grocery Company was founded in 1873 by George Albert Ralphs. The original store was located on the Sixth and Spring Streets in Los Angeles, California. On July 20, 2007, Ralphs opened a new 50,000 square foot store (4,600 m2) on 9th Street and Hope in downtown South Park, Los Angeles. This was the first supermarket headquartered in downtown in 50 years. In 1950, Ralph closed a shop on the 7th Street and Figueroa Street.

 

Today, Ralphs competes with Albertsons, Vons (a division of Safeway Inc.), and Stater Bros. Her slogan is "Great Food." Ralphs is the market leader in South California.
